Kurtis is a NEE trainer and brings important on-the-ground experience to NEE as a former principal and teacher for 12 years. Kurtis taught history at both the middle and high school levels and coached baseball. (He was Academic All-American for the baseball team at Culver-Stockton College). Kurtis served as assistant principal at Lathrop High School for three years, and head principal at Lathrop Middle School for three years. While there, he helped successfully implement the first 4-day school week in the state of Missouri. He also used the NEE program for three years at Lathrop Middle School and witnessed firsthand the powerful influence NEE has on instructional growth. He served as the Northwest Missouri Association of Secondary School Principalâ€™s Legislative Representative for two years. He has presented at a variety of educational conferences, both state and national, including the Midwest Teacher Evaluation Symposium. Kurtis has a Masters in Educational Administration and is currently working toward a doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Missouri.
