Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), Form A
The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), Form A, measures skills
and achievement of students from kindergarten through grade 9 in the areas of
communication arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and critical thinking
skills. The Iowa Tests offer educators a diagnostic look at how their students
are progressing in key academic areas. Sequential assessment can be continued
with use of the Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED), Form A,
and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Form 6.
Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED), Form A
The Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED), Form A, for grades
9-12, is an upward extension of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, Form A,
used for kindergarten through grade 9. The ITED tests the same academic
and critical thinking areas as the ITBS, but also assesses students’
abilities in accessing sources of information.
Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Form 6
The primary purpose of CogAT is to assess students’ reasoning and
problem solving abilities. Additionally CogAT provides an alternative
frame of reference for interpreting students’ achievement levels. CogAT,
Form 6, measures a student’s abilities to reason with words (Verbal
Battery), quantitative concepts (Quantitative Battery), and spatial, figural
drawings (Nonverbal Battery). Scores are provided for each test battery and as a
composite score. CogAT assessments are available for K-12 with fall,
midyear, and spring versions.
Gates-MacGinitie Reading Tests (GMRT), Fourth Edition
The Gates-MacGinitie Reading Tests (GMRT) assesses the general level of
individual reading achievement. The tests are available for grades 1-12 and may
be administered at any time during the year. An adult version is available,
suitable for community colleges and other post-high-school assessment
activities.
